Jimena Kato

Lima, 1979

 

Jimena studied painting and academic drawing in the Art School Corriente Alterna and photography in

Instituto Gaudí -now Centro de la Imagen in Lima before embarking in Europe where she studied at the ESADMM School of Art and Design in Marseille, France, obtaining the DNSEP master degree and specializing in sculpture and video; She obtained the post-diploma at SintLukas Hogeschool in Brussels in art and new media.

She currently lives in Madrid. She has shown her work in various group and individual exhibitions in different art centers, galleries and alternative spaces in Madrid, Santander, Poznan, Warsaw, Lima, Bogotá, Hasselt, Brussels, Paris and Philadelphia among others.

 

She has also received the Acquisition Award in recognition of the creation of the Nebrija University 2018 and has participated in residencies and workshops in the Ujazdowski Castle Center for Contemporary Art, Warsaw as well as the residency program Ranchito de Matadero in Madrid

and Artist x Artist in the Havana.
