Belén Rodríguez

Belén Rodríguez (Valladolid, Spain, 1981)


In 2010 Belén obtained a Master’s degree from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, where she studied with Professor Heimo Zobernig, and she also obtained a degree in Fine Arts at Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2007.


She has taken part in a number of artists-in-residence programmes, including Flora ars+natura, in Bogota, 2018, El Ranchito at Matadero Madrid and Artista x Artista, Havana in 2016, Hooper Projects in Los Angeles, USA, in 2015, Atelier Salzamt in Linz, 2015, Academia de España in Rome 2012, GlogauAIR in Berlin 2011  and BMUKK Tokyo in 2009.


Her solo exhibitions include “Paintung”, at Patio Herreriano, Valladolid, ‘Rodríguez’, Bacelos Gallery, Madrid 2016, ‘After Sputnik’, Josh Lilley Gallery, London 2013 and ’Mixtilinea’ in 2009; ‘Circa’, Das weisse Haus, Vienna 2011; and ‘XXXXX’, Parra & Romero Gallery, Madrid 2010 among others. 


She received the Staatstipendium and STARTstipendium, both from Ministry of Culture in Austria in 2015 and 2011, the First Prize of Premio Ciutat de Palma Antoni Gelabert in 2013, the Generation 2011 Prize and a Honourable Mention of Generation 2009 Prize both from Caja Madrid, the Fundación Arte y Derecho Grant and the Injuve Prize for an audiovisual project, among other awards.

She is currently showing a site-specific installation in CA2M, Mostoles (SP) in the context of the group show ’Querer parecer noche’, curated by Beatriz Alonso and Carlos Fernández-Pello, in the X Anniversary of the Museum.
